Vyvyan Evans, 2018 Winner said,

“Being awarded the CIWEM Young Environmentalist has been a great honour and helps recognises that varying ways you can be an ‘environmentalist’. I have met an excellent range of people as part of the process and has allowed the projects I have worked on to gain more recognition. It is an invaluable platform to recognise localised action young individuals have taken to advance the environmental debate and environmental practices”

The judging panel comprised of representatives from the CIWEM executive team and competition sponsors Jacobs.

Tania Flasck, judge and vice president water and energy at Jacobs said:

“This year’s submissions were very impressive, but Vyvyan demonstrated a clear passion and unrelenting commitment to solve environmental challenges. Her ability to be creative and find solutions no matter what barriers were in her way, along with her positive energy just made the difference with a finalist group who were all exceptional.”

CIWEM Chief Executive Terry Fuller added

“It is great to see this competition grow every year and to see more and more professionals in the early stages of their career actively making a positive difference to water and environmental causes”.

Entries for next year’s competition will be announced in early 2019, please stay tuned for updates at www.ciwem.org/awards
